Serenity candle care
burning your serenity candle for the first time
When burning your Serenity candle for the first time, burn for at least 2 hours or until the entire surface is liquefied—this will help extend the life of your candle.
***NOTE: DO NOT burn candle for longer than 2-4 hours at a time****
Keep your wicks trimmed
Trim wick to 1/8 before relighting your candle. Extinguish the flame, allow the candle time to cool (usually to room temperature) and then trim wick to 1/8.
always keep candles in sight while burning
It is imperative to always keep a watchful eye on your candles while they are burning. NEVER burn your candles near anything that could potentially catch on fire (furniture, books, drapes, paper, and/or any other flammable materials).
never leave a burning candle unattended
Please ensure to extinguish candle when leaving a room or before going to sleep. It is important to make sure that the wick is completely out and no longer glowing.
candle container and/or wax can become hot while in use.
Candles containers WILL get out as the candle wax melts, we DO NOT advise any movement or handling of the candle while in use. Please wait until the candle is completely extinguished and has had the time to cool and wax solidified before moving.
keep out of reach of children and pets
We all know how inquisitive and exploratory children and pets can be, please burn candles away from their reach for their safety and protection.
always burn candle on a stable, heat resistant surface.
This can help prevent heat damage to underlying surfaces and prevent glass containers from breaking.
extinguish a candle if it repeatedly smokes, flickers, or the flame becomes too high.
If your candle doesn’t seem to be burning correctly, allow the candle time to cool, trim wick, check for drafts before you attempt to relight.
Never burn a candle all the way down.
If you see that your candle is getting too close to the container EXTINGUISH immediately. No worries, Serenity Candle Co., has more where that one came from.
***For margin of safety, discontinue burning a candle when 2 inches of wax remains or 1/2 inch if in a container.***
extinguish candle carefully, and allow it to cool completely before touch or moving.
Again, containers/wax are extremely hot, please take extra precautions before moving or touching your candle. Ensure that your candle is extinguished and then allow the candle to cool before any handling.
never extinguish candle with water
The water can cause the hot wax to splatter and may cause a glass container to break.
Always use a candle holder specifically designed for candle use.
The holder should be heat resistant, sturdy, and large enough to contain any drips or melted wax.
Visit our Shop page to see our candle holder option.
keep wax pool free of wick and debris at all times.
Debris of any kind on the wick or inside the wax pull will hinder the performance of your candle.
always burn candles in a well-ventilated room.
Avoid burning too many candles at once in a small room or in a “tight” home where air exchange is limited.
choose an area away from drafts, open air vents, and ceiling fans.
This will prevent rapid, uneven burning, and avoid flame flare-ups and sooting.
